Stocks Poised for Muted Open

U.S. stocks are poised for a muted open on Monday, as investors await the release of the Federal Reserve’s monetary-policy meeting minutes during an abbreviated holiday trading week.

At 6:13 p.m. ET Sunday, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures lost 5 points, or less than 0.1%; the S&P 500 futures lost 0.1%; and Nasdaq Composite futures lost 0.2%.

Notable earnings this week include Agilent Technologies, Keysight Technologies, and Zoom Video Communications on Monday. 

Analog Devices, Autodesk, Best Buy, Dick’s Sporting Goods, HP Inc., Jacobs Solutions, Kohl’s, Lowe’s, Medtronic, Nvidia, and Nordstrom will report earnings on Tuesday; Deere & Co. will report on Wednesday; 

On Thursday, stock and bond markets will be closed in observance of Thanksgiving, and on Friday, trading on the Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange will end at 1 p.m. ET, and the bond market will close at 2 p.m. ET.

This week’s notable economic events include the Conference Board’s release of its Leading Economic Index for October on Monday. On Tuesday, the National Association of Realtors will report existing-home sales for October.

The Fed also will release the minutes from its Oct. 31-Nov. 1 monetary-policy meeting.

On Wednesday, the Census Bureau will release the durable manufactured goods report for October, and the Labor Department will release initial unemployment benefits claims for the week ended Nov. 18.

On Friday, S&P Global will release both its Manufacturing and Services Purchasing Managers’ Indexes for November.
